There’s no question that many people have loved CECT’s Chinese iPhone clones. I am one of them. Admittedly, I never like to pay full price for anything, but I’m especially guilty of deal seeking when it comes to technology because today’s latest and greatest thing is tomorrow’s dated gadget that gets thrown in the back of your closet drawer.
I also don’t like the thought of being stuck with AT&T’s very expensive monthly service. Plus, the clones have bonus features that the Apple just doesn’t have, like slide unlock, dual sim slots, FM radio, a removable battery and additional surround sound speakers.
If there has been one complaint about the clones though, it’s been that they aren’t a true smartphone like say, the BlackBerry Curve because, until now, they didn’t have WiFi, and Windows Mobile which allows software like Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
Many people want the ability to read, edit, and resend documents away from the office or classroom. This ability adds another dimension entirely to the phone and makes it a productivity powerhouse.
The new HiPhone T32 (sometimes called the Daxian 999 or the CECT T32), is the Chinese manufacturer’s answer to this call. It has all of the standard features of its processors like the ability to: surf the web; email and text (WAP browsing, MMS and SMS messaging); take photos and video on the digital camera and video cam; enjoy Bluetooth; listen to and watch MP3s and MP4s; and use Java.
But, there are three huge additions: WiFi, Windows Mobile 6.0 and GPS. This combines the best of both worlds. This phone has the very intuitive, quick and popular touch interface that made the iPhone so sought after, with the productivity tools so beloved in the BlackBerry series of PDAs.
So far, consumers seem to like this combination. This model is selling briskly even though it’s one of the most expensive clones at just under $300 currently. Even a cheapskate like me considers this a pretty fair price for all of the innovative and productive features in this small mobile phone.
